This day in 2007:
Cinque Terra, Italy: Click here for more photos for Cinque Terra.
Photography, my photos and things that affect my life in New Zealand.
This day in 2007:
Cinque Terra, Italy: We were back in Italy to fill in a few days before your trip to Africa. With only day backs, we had 4 days to wall along the coastline and the five towns that make up Cinque Terra. Click here for more photos for Cinque Terra.
This day in 2007:
Habana, Cuba: Our last day in Cuba, so we just wandered the streets of Habana, and took in the local atmosphere.
This day in 2007:
Habana, Cuba: The coco cabs of Habana. We also visited one of the cigar factories but no photos allowed unfortunately.
This day in 2007:
Playa Maria, Cuba: OUr failed attempt to go to Santiago enables us to spend a day at Playa Maria ( a day trip from Vinales) for wome lounging on an amazing beach. This was a resort in the middle of nowhere which appear to have only a handful of guests, all of which seemed to be solely for diving. And I know why. I did two dives and they were fantastic.
This day in 2007:
Vinales, Cuba: We did the tourist route of Vinales and ended up at this hotel which just happened to have a great pool overlooking the valley. But not before seeing the rock mural (bottom), a few cave systems and this local farmer (below)
This day in 2007:
Camaguey, Cuba: A quick stop in at the markets before catching a bus to Santiago. We had public transport issues though so caught the bus to Habana and then a early bus the next day to Vinales. The benefits of being flexiable!
This day in 2007:
Camaguey, Cuba: Do you notice the resemblance between the guy and the statue. It was at times like this when we wished we could speak Spanish!
This day in 2007:
Playa Acone, Cuba: After some time in Trinidad, we headed out to Playa Acone, a little beach resort which was almost deserted. It was the idyllic Caribbean beach. Below is the view from our hotel room - it doesn't get much better than that.
I also managed to get a couple of dives in just off the coast on the reefs.
This day in 2007:
Santa Clara, Cuba: We visited the memorial to Che Guevara before catching the bus to Trinidad.
This day in 2007:
Cuba: One of the great things about Cuba is the classic cars. They are a heap of crap but they do look great. If only they were renovated. Sure beats the ladas which is the only other thing on the roads.
This day in 2007:
Habana, Cuba: Another day in Habana so we wandered the old town. Above is the old lady who poses with the huge fake cigar (for money of course) and below is the National de Cuba Hotel. As we Drunk our Cuba Libra (rum and coke) of the back garden, you could image the Al Capone and the rest of the mafia drink along side.
This day in 2007:
Habana, Cuba: We finally arrived in Habana, but not without further issues. OUr flight from Amsterdam to Cuba was via Paris and we had to run so that we didn't miss another flight. Then we left the lonely planet guide on the plane so arrived in a spanish speaking country with no bookings or travel plans(except the first 2 days) in a country that doesn't really have a tourist industry, except the resorts which we didn't want to do. We eventially bought a Guide of travellers departing to the airport so we we free to do as we pleased. The picture above is of Cubas favourite revolutionary, Che, on the Ministry of defense building and the photo below is the guard of Lennons glasses (re puts them on the statutes only when a tourist bus turns up so no one can steal them).
This day in 2007:
Amsterdam: Due to a bit of Fog, instead of being on our way to Habana, Cuba, we were stuck the night in Amsterdam. Not a bad place to be stuck for a night. Unfortunately, the area we went you weren't allowed to take photos!!
