On Friday, Truckies from all over New Zealand protested the rise in road user charges (see articles here, here and here).
In most cases they were well behaved and stuck to the rules and stayed in single file. As a result, the streets of Auckland had less traffic than normal as most avoided the city or took other means of transport into NZ.
That’s if you can call a big line of trucks, including logging trucks, heavy diggers, cement mixers and 18 wheelers, tooting their horns up and down Queen Street to the cheers of passers by normal.
